A man is facing several charges after attacking three police officers in Dartmouth Thursday night.
Police were trying to find a person on a warrant and encountered a different man while checking a property at 252 Victoria Road shortly after 9:30 p.m.
Police say the man was aggressive when he confronted two officers,
Oakley Address, and the situation turned into a physical confrontation in which he attempted to remove an officer s sidearm from its holster.
A third officer arrived to assist, and the male threw punches at all three officers with what is being described a s makeshift brass weapon. Police says it wasn t a set of brass knuckles.
The man was taken to the ground and subdued. One of the officers suffered several cuts in the melee and was taken to hospital, where he was treated and released.
Police have charged a 39-year-old Dartmouth resident with several offences, including attempting to disarm a police officer, assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon, uttering threats and three counts of assaulting a police officer. He was held in custody pending an appearance in Nova Scotia provincial court in Dartmouth today.
