The acting National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, South-west, Mr. Adedeji Doherty says he relaxes only with the game of golf. Shola Oyeyipo writes

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Mr. Adedeji Doherty is not a rookie as far as Lagos and in fact, the South-west politics is
concerned. He is currently the acting chairman, PDP South-west and one of the gubernatorial aspirants expected to put up an appearance in the 2015 governorship election.

Doherty had aspired to be the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the PDP, and was Organising Secretary of the party in the South-west. He also tried unsuccessfully to clinch the Lagos State PDP
governorship ticket in 2003 and 2007.

Again, the politician is already warming up for the 2015 election and is not unaware that the success of his governorship

But in spite of his energy and time consuming political career as well as business engagements, the politician is not unaware of the importance of unwinding, so he consciously makes out time to relax and ease the stress of work.

I play golf, I swim, I read, I travel sometimes and when I travel, I relax. I go to the beach. I do the things you and I do. I go to buka if I want to eat local food - I eat it too.

But the politician is given more to playing golf, even with his time constraint.
I play golf mostly, well, not as often as I used to play it before I picked up the job at the zonal level but definitely,Discount True Religion Jeans For Women, I still try to play the game at least between twice and thrice in a month and I have been playing golf now for about nine years.

It helps me relax because golf is walking and you have to concentrate
and you have your friends with you walking with you; when they are
walking with you you are talking different things; politics, jokes

He however said his interest in Lagos governorship is propelled by his desire to give back what I have received from Lagosians, irrespective of how long it takes.

Doherty once stated that: The ticket can only be clinched if you have the majority in terms of the delegates nominated from the various wards, local governments and in the state.

And as such, it is for me to work into the party s structure which we have been doing as a campaign team, and which we will continue to do until the time the primary election will be announced. And by that time, we should be sure that at least we have more than 80 per cent of the delegates on our side.

An engineer by calling and chairman, Dain Group, the party man is also a successful businessman and a loyal PDP member who has remained one of the strongest hands of the PDP. Doherty is currently working round the clock to reposition his party for electoral success in Lagos, a resolve that remains a hard nut for the PDP in a state controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

My first ambition is to crystalise the party so that it gives me an assurance of whatever platform or whatever my ambition is, or could
be. There is no need for me to have an ambition on a weak platform. As the party is strengthening up, the platform is getting stronger and as the platform gets stronger, then, I can stand on it and beg to be counted, he said.
