The days of Hollywood only coming calling for a British actor when they wanted someone to play a baddie are long over. And these days it’s not just Daniel Craig playing James Bond; now we Brits are playing everything

The shoot: ‘I wanted a shot that captured the idea of Brits taking over Hollywood; Emily Blunt’s looking down on LA like the queen of all she’s conquered,' said Jason Bell
The Cannes Film Festival comes to a close today, bringing the curtain down on a celebration of world cinema that has seen British film-acting talent centre-stage.
From Michael Caine in Youth to Tom Hardy in the much-praised reboot of Mad Max,http://www.segoviaformacion.com/promociones.asp?Youth-NCAA-Jerseys_a2003.html, from Rachel Weisz in The Lobster and Youth, to Emily Blunt in the drugs thriller Sicario,http://www.edictaservicios.com/quienes.asp?catalog/product/Philip_Rivers_San_Diego_Chargers_Nike_Alternate_Limited_Jersey_-_Light_Blue, British actors have been everywhere in Cannes.
And that’s before I even mention the likes of Tim Roth in Chronic, Paddy Considine and David Thewlis in Macbeth, Patrick Stewart in Green Room and Olivia Colman in The Lobster. But this unprecedented level of success hasn’t come out of the blue.
No, it’s the continuation of a golden period for British film and British film-makers that began last autumn with the release of The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley, swiftly followed by The Theory Of Everything with Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones.
All four deservedly secured Oscar nominations for their stunning performances,http://www.segoviayprovincia.com/gallery.asp?c/apparel-fan-shop-sports-outdoors/cleveland-indians/-/N-5xt76Z5x83q, as did Rosamund Pike for her chilling turn as Amy Dunne in Gone Girl.
Redmayne, of course, would win the Oscar for his truly seamless performance as the theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking.
The days of Hollywood only coming calling for a British actor when they wanted someone to play a baddie are long over.
And these days it’s not just Daniel Craig playing James Bond; now we Brits are playing everything.
When Mad Max director George Miller was looking for an actor to take over from the Australian Mel Gibson,http://www.fessegovia.com/teinteresa.asp?nhl-montreal-canadiens-c-1380_1400.html, he turned to the up-and-coming Hardy,http://www.fessegovia.com/loader.asp?catalog/product/Mike_Napoli_Boston_Red_Sox_Majestic_2015_Cool_Base_Player_Jersey_-_Navy, just as before him the makers of Batman and Spider-Man turned to Christian Bale and Andrew Garfield.
Nor can we overlook that trio of British talent – Patrick Stewart,http://www.fessegovia.com/loader.asp?Cheap_Detroit_Red_Wings_Shoes_And_Socks, Ian McKellen and James McAvoy – at the still-beating heart of the X-Men franchise.

The shoot: ‘This was taken at an American-style diner near Heathrow. They (Terence Stamp and Jeremy Irons) have known each other for ages so the banter flowed quick and easy,' said Jason Bell
But when baddies are needed,http://www.garciacallejo.com/gallery.asp?catalog/product/Mens_Jacksonville_Jaguars_Nike_White_Custom_Elite_Jersey, British actors are still best, as anyone who saw Tom Hiddleston’s scene-stealing turn as Loki in Avengers Assemble can attest.
The unhappy time (at least for American producers) when the presence of a British star might restrict a film’s appeal at the box office is gone,http://www.piedracultivada.com/loader.asp?Houston_Texans_Jerseys, too.
Bale’s three phenomenally popular Batman films grossed close to $2.5 billion at the global box office, while the three Hobbit pictures,http://www.elreque.com/gallery.asp?products/st-louis-blues-david-backes-Chc-78184536-ca78c53c.jsp, starring British actor Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, came within a dragon’s breath of $3 billion.
Yes, these days, British stars mean serious bucks, regardless of age, with the enduring likes of Caine, Judi Dench and Helen Mirren still on brilliant form and still packing audiences in. And now British acting success is beginning to spread beyond the film studio.
The global television phenomenon that is Game of Thrones has been chock-full of British acting talent from the outset, from Sean Bean to Charles Dance,http://www.fysa-isd.com/repertorio.asp?nike-new-york-giants-91-justin-tuck-red-elite-nike-nfl-jerseys-cheap-p-92006.html, while it’s surely no coincidence that Sky TV’s latest hit, The Affair, stars two more Brits, Wire star Dominic West and Ruth Wilson.
Our influence is spreading to Broadway too,http://www.elreque.com/gallery.asp?products/tennessee-titans-jerseys.jsp, where some of the biggest hits of recent years have been Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe in The Cripple of Inishmaan, reallife husband and wife Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz in Harold Pinter’s Betrayal, and Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan in David Hare’s Skylight.
Many years ago,http://www.streetsmartnv.com/wp-searches.php?Cincinnati-Bengals_a769.html, screenwriter Colin Welland was much-mocked for his patriotic cry at the Oscars of ‘The British are coming!’
He wouldn’t be mocked now. The British aren’t coming: they’ve arrived.

SHARP MOVE, EMILY
Emily Blunt
Big break The Devil Wears Prada (2006), as the irksome PA Emily to the demonic editor of Runway fashion magazine (Meryl Streep), an often improvised comic turn that gave lead Anne Hathaway a run for her money.
Last seen in/monster hit Co-starring with Tom Cruise in the rewind sci-fi thriller Edge of Tomorrow last year catapulted the very buff, kick-ass Blunt into the lucrative Hollywood arena of female action heroes (think Angelina Jolie a decade ago).
Coming soon Blunt leads a heavyweight cast including Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro in Sicario, as a young female FBI agent sent to take down a Mexican cartel boss. The film has already garnered rave reviews at Cannes.相关的主题文章:
