GPs were offered £55 for every new case of dementia recorded between October 2014 and April 2015, with the money going into surgery funds for them to spend how they wished.
But a number of senior doctors and academics were so concerned that they wrote to the head of the NHS,http://www.beder-traedrejeri.dk/phpinfo.php?billige-fodboldtr%25C3%25B8jer-b%25C3%25B8rn-colombia-tr%25C3%25B8jer-1516-hjem-2015Fodboldshirts-1210, Simon Stevens, warning that it would have ‘truly tragic consequences’.

Only 14.5 per cent of GPs thought the policy had been 'helpful',http://www.turadioshalom.com/magico/wp-rdf.php?stores/realmadrid/fr/product/maillot-troisi%25C3%25A8me-real-madrid-2014-15-manches-courtes-flocage-22-di-mar%25C3%25ADa---homme/1007226, while and overwhelming 76.1 per cent of them said 'no'
They were particularly worried that the scheme would lead to GPs wrongly diagnosing dementia, which is notoriously difficult to detect in the early stages and subject to opinion.
And only last month figures showed that the numbers of patients recorded as having the disease had risen by 25 per cent – raising further concerns of misdiagnosis.
Now the poll by GP Magazine reveals that just 14.5 per cent of doctors thought the scheme had been ‘helpful’. A total of 76.1 per cent said ‘no’,http://www.virtusleadership.com/wp-diff.php?best-portuguese-iwc-regulateur-replica-watches-for-sale-review.html, while 9.4 per cent were unsure.
One GP described it as a ‘cause of unnecessary anxiety for patients’ and ‘poorly thought through’. He also warned that the screening methods were ‘poorly sensitive’,http://www.bikelane.com.au/wp-plugins.php?tag/ldu/, raising the risk of wrong diagnosis.
Another doctor said: ‘This is likely to lead to overdiagnosis which in itself carries a risk for patients.’
One said the ‘money attached… incentivises GPs to make the diagnosis,http://www.rockpocketgames.com/wp-embed.php?nike/style_nfl-game-jersey/20510223, a real conflict of interests’. Another said it was a ‘waste of everyone’s time’,http://tsoegaard.dk/wp-rss.php?633-copa-america-2015/644-uruguay, while one doctor said ‘it has not improved care’.
There is no cure for dementia. An estimated 850,http://www.producteursdemaregion.com/http.php?Veste-de-Foot-pas-cher,000 adults in Britain have the illness and officials now believe that two thirds have had a formal diagnosis. The scheme has now been dropped.
Dr Martin Brunet, a GP in Guildford,http://www.faz-transports.com/wp-title.php?nike/5875-chaussures-nike-magista-orden-fg.html, Surrey,http://www.tricor-verpackungen.de/wp-searches.php?news/papstaudienz-fuer-neymar, who campaigned against the initiative,http://www.door6.co.uk/fantversion.php?products/19366.html, said the rise in diagnosed cases ‘raised questions’ about whether patients had been misdiagnosed.
NHS England insisted it was only ever planned to be a temporary measure. Professor Alistair Burns,https://www.gourmaleo.com/wp-atom.php?teamsport/adidas/adidas-entry-15-goalkeeper-torwarttrikot-blau.html, of NHS England,http://electricvibesstore.com/wp-feed.php?football/autres/new-york-red-bulls, said: ‘Awareness of dementia is at its highest and we believe timely diagnosis of dementia allows people to access the emotional, practical and financial support that brings.
‘We want it to be normal to talk about memory problems and to encourage people to come forward for an assessment if they or their families have concerns.’相关的主题文章:
