For the past week, a dining room table has been Kelis Goodwine s classroom a second grade experience she never wanted. While sitting at home, Kelis greatly misses her friends and teachers.
I don t want to send her back there. I m too scared to do it, firmly stated Linetra Jackson, Kelis mother.
There is Samuel Chase Elementary in Prince George s County. Earlier this month, when the weather got warm, Kelis got sick with headaches, dizziness and elevated heart rate. Three times she passed out and went to the hospital.
Here s a normal EKG. She had to see a neurologist, explained Jackson as she paged through all her daughter s medical records. She was rushed to Bowie hospital.
When a slew of tests came up negative, one doctor suggested a mold allergy. Soon after, Jackson snapped pictures of Kelis second-grade classroom showing water damage on the walls and ceiling, which can harbor mold and other bacteria.
I m not giving up because I know my child is experiencing these issues and it s only at that school, affirmed Jackson.
7 On Your Side requested the school s latest environmental test results. No word on when we ll receive them. But, the district says it s not aware of any health hazards in the building, but it s not taking any chances.
On Saturday, we are taking proactive measures to take everything out of that classroom and clean it thoroughly, said Sherrie Johnson, a spokeswoman with Prince George s County Public Schools. We would love to have her back at school, yes. Most definitely.
Jackson has requested her daughter be transferred to another elementary school, which is something the 8-year-old would prefer to avoid.相关的主题文章:
