NDP Leader Tom Mulcair will publish an autobiography this year, just weeks before the October federal election, it was revealed Thursday.
Mulcair s book, which will trace his decades in public service, will undoubtedly be half memoir and half manifesto — like most politicians books tends to be, especially when released shortly before an election campaign. As such, it s no surprise that it received a nebulous title, Strength of Conviction, that is composed of recognizable words but says next to nothing about the contents of the book.
Liberal leader Justin Trudeau released his own pre-election memoir last year, Common Ground. Other blandly titled political manifestoirs unleashed on the public recently include Michael Ignatieff s True Patriot Love, Hillary Clinton s Hard Choices and Mitt Romney s No Apology. (Prime Minister Harper, mercifully, has not yet had time for his own memoir.)
Seeing a pattern? We ve put together a Canadian political book title generator, in case you decide to run for office and need a vaguely optimistic title for your memoir that emphasizes your leadership and vision for the country. Just hit Generate until you find one you like, and remember to send us a royalty cheque when you publish your best-seller!
