You could say magic happened, as it so often seems to when it comes to Magic Circle casting (and which I have written about before), and the results are on stage for all to see, weekends through the end of the month. Lloyd Webber’s protagonist is known, simply, as “Phantom of the Opera.” By contrast, Yeston-Koppit’s Phantom has a name. He is Erik, and here — as played by Dalyn Pearson — he suffers and loves in a way you can feel. Pearson not only carries the emotional weight of the show, he does some fine, piratical rope-swinging across stage. The object of Erik’s ardor, Christine (Bethany Ward), is in fine voice, and you can feel the heat between the two of them. You can also feel the affection between theatre-owner Alain Cholet and his diva/villainess wife, “La Carlotta.” (It helps, perhaps, that Cholet and Carlotta are played by played by George and Allyson Crosby, partners in life as well as on stage.)相关的主题文章:
