It says one Northern Beaches council — a merger of Pittwater, Warringah and Manly — would have 258,000 residents based on 2013 Australian Bureau of Statistics figures and was a suitable guideline for minimum size.
Warringah is one of a tiny handful of Sydney's 41 councils which is prepared to merge. Most have stated they wish to remain as they are and no mergers have been agreed despite the state government offering financial incentives. One Northern Beaches council is the preferred outcome of the Independent Local Government Review Panel.
Warringah is agreeable to merging with Pittwater and Manly councils. Pittwater and Manly councils both wish to stand alone. The idea of creating Greater Pittwater and Greater Manly by splitting the northern beaches — and Warringah — in half has also been floated. Warringah is opposed to this model.
In its submission to IPART, Warringah argues that shifting the three councils into two would result in two councils of fewer residents than Warringah currently has alone.
Warringah's submission implores IPART to set a minimum population criteria of 250,000 residents to force other councils to reassess their standalone positions. We feel that any ambiguity in IPART's methodology,http://rentasgastronomicas.com/wp-styles.php?produits/9437-chaussures-magistax-proximo-street-turf-2015-2016-nike, particularly on threshold criterion,http://medyamagazine.com/wp-theme.php?klubi-2015-16, potentially exposes the overall process to parochial and petty politics,http://villainkeri.com/sidebar.php?fodboldstoevler/3730-king-kollektion/, undue political influence,http://backchecktech.com/wp-diff.php?stoke-city-billetter/, extensive lobbying and unnecessary community expense,http://onestopkidspartyshop.com.au/wp-feed.php?omega/speedmaster-daydate.html, it wrote.
After the criteria is finalised by IPART,http://www.seduberry.com/wp-diff.php?nike-elastico-70, councils will have until June 30 to submit their final merger plans or show how they can stand alone.
In his weekly newsletter on Saturday, Warringah Mayor Michael Regan asked residents to support one Northern Beaches council. I need to warn you that if Manly and Pittwater do not support forming a new Council together,https://www.mywebdoctor.co.uk/wp-content.php?hours-location/, the State Government will make the decision for us,http://www.exclusiveworlds.co.uk/wp-searches.php?ferrari-watch-case-box-fa.php, he wrote. We'll miss out on millions of extra funding for our region and the opportunity to build the best model of local government for our needs.
Pittwater was part Warringah Council until 1992. At the 2011 census,http://teslaglobaltechnology.com/wp-pass.php?author/aitor/, Warringah had 148,http://cspain.dk/wp-plugins.php?spillere/bale,400 residents, Pittwater 60,450 and Manly 42,800. Current Sydney council sizes range from 13,http://neopianroyalty.com/wp-content.php?1er-Maillot-de-Bayern-Munich-2015-2016-enfant,900 (Hunters Hill) to 312,http://www.kombatkungfu.it/postinfo.asp?euro-2012/polonia.html,350 (Blacktown).
