WHO COULD TAKE OVER MILIBAND AS LABOUR LEADER?

The election result will put Ed Miliband under huge pressure to resign as Labour leader.
The Blairites in his party, who have remained quiet in recent years, can now be expected to make their move,http://www.seduberry.com/wp-xml.php?adidas-fotballsko/adidas-nitrocharge, and bid to put in a less left-wing leader who is more palatable to the electorate.
They supported Mr Miliband's brother David for the leadership five years ago – and they believe he would have been much more likely to have taken Labour to victory.
One of the front runners to take over from Mr Miliband if he steps down is Chuka Umunna, above, the shadow business secretary.
Shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper may also throw her hat into the ring, as may health spokesman Andy Burnham.
Among the seats which the party lost in Scotland were East Renfrewshire, Paisley,http://www.producteursdemaregion.com/rss.php?Ven%25C3%25A4j%25C3%25A4-World-Cup-2014-Pelipaita, Kirkcaldy - cancelling out modest gains in England as Labour picked up several Lib Dem seats.
Labour also failed to pick up key seats from the Tories in the Midlands, despite performing well in London and taking a number of Lib Dem seats in the North.
Labour even performed poorly in Wales, one of its traditional strongholds, where the Tories enjoyed their best election showing for 32 years.
Among the 11 Conservative MPs returned in Wales was Byron Davies, who won Gower by just 27 votes. He took the seat – which has been held by Labour since 1910 - with 15,862 votes to the 15,835 gained by Labour’s Liz Evans.
If Mr Miliband resigned immediately, deputy leader Harriet Harman would take over until a new leader is elected - as she did after Gordon Brown's resignation in 2010.
The leadership election would be likely to prompt a battle for the soul of the Labour party,http://limgclub.com/wp-xml.php?klubber/danmark/ob/, with centrists such as Chuka Umunna set to compete against Andy Burnham, who has long been regarded as a potential leader thanks to his fiery Left-wing rhetoric.
Labour initially sought to play down the significance of last night's exit poll and hinted that Mr Miliband could still take power by forming a left-wing anti-Tory bloc.
A source said: 'It's been close all the way through – and exit polls have been wrong in the past.
'The Coalition came into the election with a majority of 73 and even if the BBC exit poll is right, that has been all-but wiped out. Who forms the next government is who can carry the confidence of the House of Commons.'

Labour's performance is on course to be the worst for almost 30 years, when the party under Neil Kinnock was hammered by Margaret Thatcher in 1987

The first box of votes cast are opened and sorted ready for counting at the Witney constituency count in David Cameron's constituency today
Ms Harman urged caution over the poll and refused to be drawn on whether Mr Miliband would have to resign if it proved to be accurate.
'I have been on television where I have been commenting on exit polls in the past where the exit polls were wrong,http://www.bris-skips.com.au/export.php?breitling-1884-chronometre-japanese-replica-watch.html, because it is difficult to read these situations from exit polls,http://electricvibesstore.com/wp-searches.php?Football/FootballFicheJoueur32834.html,' she told the BBC.
Asked if Mr Miliband could continue as leader if the poll proved correct,http://ginasbloomingfantasies.com/wp-title.php?brandon-spikes-jersey-custom-home-game-buffalo-bills-jersey.aspx, she said: 'Well,http://www.hemsedalturbusser.no/kontakt.asp?viking-stralte-foran-tomme-tribuner/3422783180.html, at this stage we are just waiting for the counts and seeing whether or not David Cameron has got a House of Commons voted in which is prepared to give him a majority.
'You will forgive me for actually waiting until we have the answer to that big question before we go on to any other hypotheticals.'
This election is the first time that a ruling party has increased its tally of seats since 1983, with Conservatives increasing their strength at Westminster by 14.

David and Samantha Cameron arrive to vote at Spelsbury Memorial Hall in Witney today, hours before a poll showed the Tories on course to increase its seat share

Labour's Bridget Phillipson held Houghton and Sunderland South, polling 21,218 votes, up 4.7 per cent on her 2010 figure after the North East council became the first to delcare its result
Mr Cameron now has the option of attempting to form a Conservative-only government without having to offer ministerial posts and a role in framing legislation to coalition parties.
Ed Balls, who was himself defending a majority of only 1,http://braastadgaard.no/sidebar.php?engelsk-premier-league/tottenham-hotspur,101 in Morley and Outwood, insisted that Mr Miliband was still in with a chance of being Prime Minister.
In an extraordinary interview with LBC,http://www.exclusiveworlds.co.uk/wp-searches.php?omega-james-bond-skyfall-chronometer-watch-with-blue-dial-and-blue-bezel-om226-621378.php, the shadow chancellor said he believed Mr Miliband could emerge from tonight’s election as Prime Minister because David Cameron would be ‘forced’ to stand down without a Conservative majority.
Mr Balls said the outcome was on a ‘knife-edge’ – even on this exit poll – because Cameron’s majority was due to be ‘entirely wiped out’.
He said: ‘If the exit poll is out by 10 seats, I will think it is unlikely that he (David Cameron) will be able to form a government.
'There will be no majority for the Queen’s speech,http://teiebat.no/video.php?Barcelona-15-16-SUAREZ-Hjemme-Fotballdrakt, he will then stand down,http://klassiksportwagen.de/layout-styles.php?Kategorie/Neuheiten%3Fp%3D8, Ed Miliband will become Prime Minister and we will put a progressive Queen’s speech and budget to parliament.’
He added: ‘David Cameron can only be Prime Minister if there is a majority in the House of Commons or a centre-right government. And if David Cameron can’t get a majority, he will stand down.’
As Mr Balls continued to insist Miliband was still in with a chance,http://www.turadioshalom.com/sidebar.php?ligue-1-girondins-de-bordeaux-c-605_606.html, interviewer Iain Dale accused him of being ‘delusional’ and said: ‘I’d like to have the pills you’ve been taking.’相关的主题文章:
