With this move, the Rockets have cleared their first hurdle towards clearing near-max cap space to offer to Chris Bosh and get him signed in time to also match the Chandler Parsons offer sheet. The Rockets will sweetener to Lin in order to compensate the Lakers.
The Rockets get a boatload of cap room and the Lakers get a global icon, one of the most marketable players in the NBA. How he will learn to coexist with Kobe will be an interesting question, but he will now have a chance to excel in a bigger role that his fans have been looking for for the last two years.
As for Lin, he was nothing but a professional and competitor for the last two seasons. His fans give him a bad rap, but he was an excellent teammate and his calming influence in the locker room will be missed.
