Walk around Dow Lagoon in an attractive, healthy second-growth oak-hickory woodland on the ridgetops and beech-maple in the valleys. Walk through white pine plantations,00007356, close a Native American mound, and also a pioneer cemetery. Look for all of the active beaver population. Spring wild flowers and fall foliage are already highlights of this 6.8-mile horseshoe pathway in a state park just All five miles from Ohio’s funkiest small community.

What a fun little jaunt...thoroughly it would have been if we we had not been toting full But then lb packs in a session effort for a week close to AT this coming summer. My family and i approximated distance including the Japanese Mound loop to be about 8.5 miles. Parking can be called at the beach and have to walk a short distance beyond the parking area to find the road head which is not clearly plain. The trail seems well practiced and maintained and is remarkably easy going which our winter-softened body frames truly appreciated. We satisfied only about 2 cardio worthy inclines and some very mildly ups and downs. Quite alot of the path was wide enough for us to walk two abreast.
The path does not completely encircle the lake. In order to avoid finishing off the last 1/4 kilometer or so on the paved softball park road, we bushwhacked through thickets on their own lake edge using angling paths and deer paths just up until we hit the automobile parking space.
Personal Recommendation: Leisure dayhiking with kind terrain and even, stable footing for beginning trail-runners, non-athletic types,Prescription Oakley Glasses, the young or aging. Ideal dog walkers.
Highlights: Completed at the dam and had lunch inside of picnic area on a regular then flew a kite in the dam for a nice midday diversion from unwanted feelings.
Low points: Trying to find its trailhead and wishing the trail visited all the way back to the parking area.
