Sentenced: Phillip Lemonheigh ditched the wheelchair and walked to court
A driver who turned his car into a fake ambulance by using a flashing blue light and 'emergency response' stickers has been jailed for 20 months.
Phillip Lemonheigh disguised his wife's Renault Laguna estate car as an ambulance for three months before he was caught driving through a red light.
Lemonheigh, 60, was caught after he was clocked travelling at 73mph in a 50mph zone in Llantrisant, near Cardiff, as he ran errands for his bed-bound wife Noreen.
He had previously taken a wheelchair to court hearings but managed to walk into the dock at Swansea Crown Court, for sentencing on Thursday.
The court was told Lemonheigh was a carer for his wife Noreen who had a 'chronic medical condition' and would do jobs for her around their home town of Neath, South Wales.
He even dressed as a paramedic before jumping behind the wheel - even though he didn't have a licence and had no medical training.
But he was captured by a speed camera at a notorious accident spot on the A4119 in Llantrisant, South Wales, at 9pm.
He was recorded running the light almost 24 seconds after it had changed to red.
Lemonheigh, who admitted dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice by giving a false name, drew comparisons to Little Britain character Andy Pipkin at previous hearings.
He was pushed in a wheelchair by his stepson Bryan Rowe, 41, before being pictured ditching the chair hours later at home.
The court was told Lemonheigh had bought a blue flashing light and paramedic uniforms on the internet and paid a friend to put the stickers on his car.
