Another bystander, Humberto Monroy, saw the oncoming Porsche as it "flew out of nowhere," he told police. Monroy checked on Jules' condition after the crash. Monroy asked Jules if he could pray for Jules, then said an "Our Father" prayer, he said.
For Russell and her friends, the evening began with karaoke and bar-hopping in Fort Lauderdale, the records show.
Investigators obtained financial records and found Russell purchased nine alcoholic beverages hours before the crash at three separate locations.
Two of those drinks were likely for her friend, Daniel Alexander Wong, who was a passenger in the Porsche during the crash, authorities said. Of the wine, vodka and whiskey that was purchased, it's unclear how many drinks Russell consumed.
When the group called it a night, Russell hopped into her mother's Porsche, along with Wong and Stephanie Anne Kocell, whom she had met that night.
They planned to drop Kocell off at her car two blocks away, but instead drove in the opposite direction for unknown reasons, investigators said.
As Russell drove west on Broward Boulevard, Wong told her to slow down and then jokingly told her, "you're crazy," according to his sworn statement.
She slowed some, then suddenly sped up again as she turned south on a yellow traffic light at Southwest Fifth Avenue, records show. Wong said she swerved and plowed through bushes and into the parking lot.
Behind the shrubbery and in the Porsche's path, Butcher was chatting with Jules, 30, as she sat next to him in the parking lot off Broward Boulevard and Southwest Fifth Avenue.
Jules' wasn't on his bicycle, although the bike was nearby. After the Porsche struck him, it dragged his bicycle, too, according to a traffic homicide report.
The Porsche briefly stopped, then moved again and struck Martindale, 35, who was walking through the parking lot as he returned from a nearby 7-Eleven.
Martindale was pinned beneath the front passenger wheel as the car traveled around a median in the parking lot, the report said. The Porsche then finally came to a complete stop.
According to a transcript, a 911 caller who went to Martindale's side told a dispatcher: "He actually still does have a pulse. He's gasping for air right now."
