LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Kings announced Monday that they will retire the No. 4 jersey worn by Rob Blake.
The “silver and black” jersey will be retired in a Jan. 17 ceremony and will join the sweaters of five other legendary Kings players in the rafters at Staples Center.
Blake was selected by the Kings in the fourth round of the 1988 entry draft. He played 14 of his 20 NHL seasons with the Kings and holds the team records for games, goals, assists and points by a defenseman.
He is also the first King to receive the Norris Trophy as the league’s top defensive player.
Blake will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November.
He is currently a Kings vice president and assistant general manager.
