THE Ogun State government has urged the Federal Government to review the academic curriculum of technical and vocational education in the country to allow new emerging trends in science and technology.
The call was made by some stakeholders at a forum organised by the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board (OGSTVEB) in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Various craftsmen, facilitators who addressed students of technical and vocational colleges,
True Religion Jeans Suit, as well as parents and other stakeholders emphasised the need to resuscitate the technical education sub-sector, which, according to them,
2014 trends- Population healt, is currently operating at its lower level in the state.
The state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Professor Ganiyu Olatunde, at the one-day public hearing and discussion of issues, circumstances and matters relating to technical and vocational education, urged private investors and other stakeholders to collaborate with the state government towards achieving OGSTVEB’s goals.
Senator Amosun promised to sustain the existing cordial relationship between his administration and private investors, stressing that the contribution of the private sector to governance cannot be underrated.
He implored well-meaning citizens, philanthropists and corporate organisations to assist the colleges through funding and donation of machinery and equipment.
In her speech,
Prince Philip's Royal Daimler, the OGSTVEB chairman, Mrs Doyin Ogunbiyi, said that the event was organised with a view to resuscitating the near moribund technical education sector in the state, adding that developing skilled middle-level manpower would solve the challenges of unemployment and help maintain industries in different specialties.
Ogunbiyi emphasised that the agency was poised to “promote public sector model in technical and vocation training, which would contribute to the state capacity building, apart from creating close linkage with investors.”
