CONNECT 6 TWEETCOMMENTEMAILMOREPAGELAND, S.C. -- Pageland police say they are still actively searching for the person who shot a mother while she was at work Sunday evening.
The shooting happened around 7 p.m. at the Tienda Mexicanna store,http://www.pistolchick.com/wp-rdf.php?460-milieu-de-terrain, which sits right in the heart of downtown Pageland. The store is two blocks from the town's police station.
A man walked into the store and demanded cash from the clerk. After she gave the man the money,http://dgrmarcomms.com/wp-blog.php?Leonard_Williams_Jersey, police say the suspect shot Maria Aguilar, 30,http://electricvibesstore.com/fantversion.php?football/equipe-premiere/staff/joueurs/pedro, in the head.
Pageland is a town where everyone knows everyone. That's why the shooting has many on edge.
"It just really hurts to know that somebody would do something like that to such a nice person," said a friend of Aguilar.
The suspect was wearing dark colored clothes with his face partially covered.
Aguilar gave the gunman an unknown amount of cash, but then a witness said she reached for the phone and that's when the suspect shot her. He then ran from the store.
Aguilar is currently listed in critical but stable condition in the ICU at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The Chesterfield County Sheriff's Department brought out its K-9 unit,http://maternalsavvy.com/wp-searches.php?lapsen-pelipaita-liverpool-c-40_50.html, which briefly had a trace of the suspect,http://www.katalogportali.com/wp-feed.php?liga-bbva/villarreal/equipaciones-de-juego/, but lost his scent a few blocks away.
"We believe that's when he probably got inside a car," said Pageland Police Chief Larry Brown.
Johnnie Deese owns a restaurant next door to the Tienda Mexicanna. He knows the victim and laments the senseless violence.

Police want anyone with information about the crime to give them a call.
