Theater‘Anne Frank’ in WasillaValley Performing Arts presents “The Diary of Anne Frank,” a stage adaptation of the touching journal kept by a girl hiding from the Nazis in tight quarters with her family and other refugees during World War II. Nicole Wilson of The Frontiersman writes that Gabbe Blackwell “shines” in the title role. The cast includes Eva Severance, Ted Carney, Wendy Golter, Scott Allred, Anthony Borges, Shellie Riggan, Shane Preuit, Anastasia Snyder, Bryan Ken and a cat named Mouschi. Performances take place at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday through May 31 in the Machetanz Theatre, 251 W. Swanson Ave. in Wasilla. Work at the dig stops as researchers and villagers from Kiana discuss what to do next. But the river is running and threatens to take out the entire site before it can be completely examined. “Igliqtiqsiugvigruag” (“Swift Water Place”), a film that addresses the relationship between the archaeology team and the village, will be screened at 7 p.m. Friday, May 22, at the Anchorage Museum. A Q A session with the film’s production team will follow the showing. It’s included with museum admission, which is half-price from 6-9 p.m. that day. ArtDaubing debutsArctic Rose Gallery is featuring a group show of artists working in alcohol ink, a popular genre that uses pigments in an alcohol medium, often applied by daubing to create a bright, marbled background. Along with originals and prints on silk and canvas, the show also includes mixed-media work. Some of the pieces are from artists who have not shown work before.
