Gov. Jay Inslee is vowing to get to the bottom of the police shooting on Thursday in Olympia and he is expressing concern for the entire state of Washington.
"We're all concerned about any loss of life — police shooting or otherwise — and we want to make sure we do a complete investigation and be confident that's going to be done," Inslee said.
Here's the thing, we would be more confident in the governor if, when he's talking about what we have to investigate, if he wouldn't say "loss of life." Because both men are alive, both men are expected to recover — thank god — and the investigation is not going to be over a loss of life. The investigation will be over the use of potentially deadly force, not actual deadly force.
So when Inslee says, "We're all concerned about any loss of life," is he saying he doesn't care about this event? No. He's just confused about what's actually going on.
I guess it wouldn't be the first time.
