Seven On Your Side spoke with a woman who's questioning the move, which is totally legal in her community and many others.
Melody Moore's baby is a bright red Chevy Camaro that kept its place in her driveway until last month.
They took my car out of my own driveway at two in the morning and damaged it, Moore said.
Moore's car was scratched and dented, she claims, by a towing service that hauled it away.
This is the marks where the towing truck company dragged my car, Moore said.
The company says if she can prove it, they'll be happy to pay. But she's angry with the group that got her towed in the first place the association for her Woodbridge neighborhood.
They have a new rule that you have to pay to park in your own driveway, and if you don't pay to park in your own driveway, they will tow your car, no warning or anything, she said.
Homeowners in this community were recently told they'd have to pay for parking permits like this for their own homes. Moore waited to get one - then boom - one night, her car was gone.
I took it seriously but I wasn't sure that was even legal, she said.
Seven On Your Side has learned that this practice is legal in this neighborhood and many others. The attorney representing Moore's community says driveways actually belong to the condo association, so it can set policies.
The association, the attorney says, recently created the new policy to deal with cars that don't belong and families who own too many cars. They gave homeowners a few weeks notice about the change. However Moore, tied up with work, didn't get her permit and paid the price.
I'm thinking about moving, she said.相关的主题文章:
