COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A slow moving mudslide is pushing some mobile homes in Colorado Springs from their foundations, forcing five people from their homes.
The A-1 Mobile Village sits on a hill that has been saturated by all of this month s rain. KKTV ( ) reported that residents there began noticing problems Thursday night when items began slipping off shelves in one home and then the skirting around its foundation fell off. Neighbor Chris Callahan said he then noticed his backyard was sinking behind his trailer.
The Red Cross says six units have been affected and it s helping those forced out. Firefighters don t expect the homes to slide all the way down the hill.
The wet weather also triggered rock slides on U.S. Highway 50 near Salida and in Fremont County.
