The baseball teams from Chugiak and South are headed to the state tournament thanks to victories Thursday at Mulcahy Stadium.Chugiak blanked Service 10-0 and South tripped Dimond 7-2 in Cook Inlet Conference playoff games to earn the conference's two tournament berths.Both winners improved to 7-1 in CIC play. Dimond and Service both dropped to 4-4, and with just two more games left in the playoffs, neither can overtake Chugiak and South.Related: Chugiak's Sam Hanson took care of business with his bat and his pitching arm.He threw a six-inning shutout, giving up six hits and one walk while striking out three, and drove in two runs with two hits.Cody Curfman drove in three runs and Vander Lekites scored three times for Chugiak.Service outhit the Mustangs 6-5 but committed four errors. Derek Scoggins led the Cougars with two hits.In South's win over Dimond, Tommy Koloski struck out eight and gave up one run in six innings.
