TUMWATER With three Tumwater High School singles players in the consolation bracket, Thunderbirds coach Jim Click knew the possibility of all-Tumwater consolation final was looming Thursday at the 2A District IV girls tennis tournament at the Capitol City Tennis and Athletic Center. And so it did, between his Nos. 1 and 2 singles players: sophomore Nicole Howard and senior Laina Boughal. In a tightly contested match, it was Boughal who earned her first trip to state by dispatching her teammate in three sets to earn the final berth to state. Click said it was the best tennis Boughal has played after spending most of her junior season in doubles. He also commended her on her shot selection, patience, and finishing points. She did everything very well, Click said. The top three singles players and doubles teams advance to the Class 2A state tournament May 29-30 at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle. R.A. Long s Reagan Swier topped Jamie Isaacson in the singles final. Tumwater won the district team title.相关的主题文章:
