According to Entergy's website, more than 32,000 customers in total were without power. The bulk of the outages were reported in Orleans, St. Bernard, Jefferson and East Baton Rouge parishes.
Orleans suffered the biggest outage reported by the power company with more than 10,000 customers without power as of 7 a.m.
"Due to the thunderstorms along with the high winds that have and continue to move through the area we are experiencing numerous outages," Entergy said in a service note on its outage section of its website. "Entergy personnel are working to restore service as quickly as safely possible. At this time, we estimate that all service will be restored by May 26 (at) 4 p.m. The estimated time of restoration could change as all damage assessments are completed or if other storm activity results in additional outages."
