Now, Ms Quinn – who was also subjected to violence by her former partner - has claimed Wheatley 'should be hanged' for his crimes and hit out at social services for allowing Alexa-Marie to ever go and live with him.
She said Wheatley - who she met in 2008 before splitting with the following year - had regularly threatened her, and even 'grabbed her by the throat' on one occasion.
She told : 'Social services and the judges have blood on their hands. They knew he hit me and they still gave her to him.
'I think they should face custodial sentences too because they've killed my daughter'.

Earlier, Ms Quinn had paid tribute to her 'wonderful little girl' in a statement read outside St Albans Crown Court after Wheatley was sent to prison. Wheatley had admitted manslaughter by reasons of diminished responsibility but the supermarket worker was found guilty of murder by the jury.
She said: 'My daughter Alexa-Marie was funny, loving and a child you could never be angry with. She was beautiful on the inside and out.
'Myself and my extended family have been deeply traumatised by what Carl Wheatley has done.
'He has taken away an angel, a little girl so precious and our lives will never be the same.
'How anyone could cause such pain and suffering to someone so young and so sweet is truly beyond me.
'Alexa-Marie was taken from us in the cruellest of ways. We have been sentenced to a lifetime of pain knowing that we won't ever see her again.
'She will never have the chance to make daisy chains or go to a school prom and we will never be able to celebrate happy occasions, such as birthdays, Christmas and Mother's Day, because of what this man has done.'
Professor Rupert Risdon, who carried out the post mortem, said he had never seen injuries like those suffered by four-year-old Alexa-Marie.
He said he found 65 separate bruise marks all over her, but it was the 66th bruise which had caused her death.
Alexa-Marie had been living with Wheatley since January 2014 when he won a long battle with Bedford Borough Council.
She had been in the care of foster parents after being taken from her mother Ms Quinn several years earlier.
Wheatley (above with Alexa-Marie), who previously worked as a stock re-filler at Asda, admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility but was found guilty of murder by a jury at St Albans Crown Court
Alexa-Marie's devastated family said they had been 'deeply traumatised' by the murder of the four-year-old
At the time, it was unclear who her father was but in 2012 a paternity test proved Wheatley to be the father and he was granted supervised access to the little girl.
Wheatley was also fighting for custody for another three-year-old son, who cannot be named for legal reasons, who he had with another woman.
Psychiatrist Dr Philip Joseph told Wheatley's trial that the killer had admitted to him that he had taken his frustrations out on his daughter after losing custody of his son.
Dr Joseph said he had hatched a plan to let the bruises heal and hand her back to her foster parents, adding: 'He knew what he was doing'.
The court heard that in the weeks leading up to her death, Wheatley went to great lengths to avoid Alexa-Marie being seen.
He took her away to Leeds and told her nursery their car had broken down up north and also avoided appointments with social workers.
He also made internet searches, including 'how to reduce swelling' and 'what glue can I use to put teeth back in' and even took a shower while police were at his house and while his daughter lay dead.
Sentencing him to serve a minimum of 21 years, Andrew Bright QC said the 'sadistic violence' began ten days before Alexa-Marie's death.
