The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals announced Friday on its online docket that it has rescheduled oral arguments for both states' appeals of federal court decisions for Aug. 26.
Federal judges in Indiana and Wisconsin overturned each state's gay marriage ban in separate rulings. When both states appealed, the 7th Circuit Court combined the cases and set aside the previous hearing date.
2 rescued from capsized sailboat

Satellite Image Search For Mi, Wis. -- Crews have rescued two Fond du Lac residents from a capsized sailboat on Lake Winnebago.
The Fond du Lac Sheriff's Office Water Patrol and Rescue responded Friday afternoon after the 16-foot sailboat capsized about three-fourths of a mile west of a boat launch.
The boaters -- ages 23 and 22 -- were wearing lifejackets and had held themselves together until they were rescued. Both were unhurt and taken to shore to be checked out.
The sailboat submerged and is believed to be drifting due to 3-foot waves.
Dropping crop prices may push rents down

Economist Gary Schnitkey told The News-Gazette in Champaign that farmers' profits this year and next will be "considerably below" the levels of the past few years.
Soybeans have fallen well below $11 a bushel and corn to about $3.70 a bushel. Those prices are the lowest since 2010.
Man held in alleged child battering
BELVIDERE, Ill. -- A Machesney Park man being held on $300,000 bond for allegedly battering his girlfriend's 7-month old child faces additional charges of assault resulting in permanent disability.
The Rockford Register Star reported that Dylan Abbott, 22, is being held in Boone County Jail. His arraignment is set for Aug. 1.
Court documents say police were called to an apartment in Belvidere last Saturday for a baby who had fallen, and noticed bruises on the infant's face and ears while transporting the child to SwedishAmerican Hospital.
The documents say an emergency room physician told police that blunt trauma caused bleeding on the right side of the child's brain.
Abbott told police he was watching the child while the mother ran an errand, and the child fell while playing.
Kirk calls for removal of hospital head

EastEnders- Sharon's shooter,, Ill. -- Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk continues to call for the removal of upper management at Hines VA Hospital outside Chicago.
Kirk met Friday with Hines director Joan Ricard, whose removal he has repeatedly recommended. He said he suggested to her that she "get a criminal lawyer" for the FBI investigation he is going to recommend. Ricard didn't public ally comment.
