COMMENTEMAILMOREA Grotto Pizza official confirmed Tuesday that the person seen kicking a man in the head in a video that went viral was employed as a doorman.
"We do not condone the behavior shown in the video in any way," Vinnie DiNatale,bayern munich kit lederhosen, the marketing director for Grotto Pizza,liverpool youth shirt, said Tuesday. "After we were alerted of the situation,borussia dortmund nike kit, swift and appropriate action was taken."
DiNatale declined to identify the doorman or say whether the man is still employed at the restaurant. He also declined to discuss what led up to the incident outside its Newark location, citing an ongoing police investigation.
Newark police have confirmed they are investigating the incident, including attempts to locate the victim of the attack.
"For us to proceed with charges,liverpool shirts retro, we need the victim's cooperation, at a minimum," Newark Police Department spokesman Cpl. James Spadola said.
The 7-second video uploaded to Facebook and Youtube on May 13 shows a man wearing blue jeans and a red short-sleeved shirt being kicked in the head and knocked to the floor, apparently unconscious.
In the video, one of two men wearing matching dark shirts and khaki pants delivers the kick after the other holds the red-shirted man by his right arm. After the kick, the man who initially held the victim's arm is seen kneeling by his side and placing his hand on the man's chest, as the one who kicked him turns and appears to walk away.
Several people out of frame can be heard making noise as the kicked man falls to the tiled floor of a hallway in front of the restaurant in the Main Street Galleria, which includes other businesses.
City police began investigating the incident after they were emailed a tip Wednesday with a link to the video, Spadola said.
DiNatale said he also learned of the incident Wednesday after someone sent a link to the video to the company's general email account.
Investigators believe the incident shown in the video is related to a call police received at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday about a shirtless customer who became disorderly after being thrown out of the restaurant, Spadola said.
"When officers arrived, the subject was gone,arsenal away kit 2014 gold," he said.
Police found no indication that an ambulance or medical assistance was called for the man, he said.
Based on an investigation, he added, "we believe the video is the tail-end of a much-longer incident in the bar."
Although the complaint was about a shirtless man and the man in the video is wearing one, Spadola said he could have put on the shirt before the kicking incident.
"We're still trying to track down the victim," he said. "We need the victim to cooperate with the investigation."
No charges have been filed in the case,arsenal kit 2014 15 leaked, he said, but the investigation is continuing.
DiNatale said all Grotto Pizza doormen undergo training for removing disorderly customers, adding "physical contact is not appropriate in any way."
"This isolated incident does not represent Grotto Pizza or our culture of serving families for 55 years," he said.
