COMMENTEMAILMOREState police on Tuesday afternoon identified a driver fatally injured in a crash in Hockessin the night before.
He was Vijayachandra Babu,http://gregoreon.com/wp-diff.php?tag/warrior/, 69, of the 100 block Dewberry Drive, Hockessin, police said.
About 10:35 p.m. Monday, Babu stopped at a stop sign at Old Wilmington Road and Lancaster Pike,http://www.rockpocketgames.com/phpinfo.php?predator-c-492_509.html, then turned onto southbound Lancaster Pike into the path of an oncoming northbound car that struck his, Master Cpl. Jeffrey R. Hale said.
The crash also seriously injured Babu's wife, who was a passenger in his car, and injured the driver and two passengers in the other car, Hale said.
Babu and his wife were taken to Christiana Hospital,http://michaelzeki.com/wp-walker.php?647-maajoukkueet/668-unkari, where she was admitted in serious condition and he later was pronounced dead.
The driver of the other car was identified as Austin V. Griffith,http://www.ytutanflamenca.com/wp-theme.php?acheter/maillot/kelme/mundial-blanc, 19, of Wilmington. He and his passengers – another 19-year-odl man and a 17-year-old girl,http://braastadgaard.no/video.php?Landslagsdrakter-647/Costa-Rica-658, both from Wilmington – were treated at the same hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, Hale said.
The fatal crash remains under investigation.
Lancaster Pike was closed in both directions for about two hours as troopers investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
