Here. We. Go. We’re less than 12 hours away from kick-off of the 2014 NFL season. It’s all ESPN, all the time in my house today (hopefully in yours too.) To usher in a season full of touchdowns (and field goals, and safeties…), we’re going to break down the top ten highest scoring regular season NFL games in history. Here goes!
1. On November 27, 1966, the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants combined for a total of 113 points. The final score was Washington 72 and New York 41.
2. On November 28, 2004, Ohio’s favorite rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns had a combined 106 points. Nati won by 10 points, 58 to 48.
3. December 22, 1963 saw the Oakland Raiders and the Houston Texans score 101 total points. The game ended with Oakland winning by a field goal, 52-49.
4. The Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs scored 99 total points on November 27, 1983. The game resulted in a 3-point Seattle win, 51-48.
5. On October 17,
True Religion Kids Clothes, 1948, the now-defunct Chicago Cardinals and the New York Giants scored 98 combined points. Once again, the Giants lost; this time the final score was 63-35.
(5*) 6. On December 8, 1985,
True Religion Jeans Uk, the San Diego Chargers and the Pittsburgh Steelers played a game that also reached a total of 98 points. The Bolts took the W, 54-44.
7. On November 22, 1950, the Los Angeles Rams and the Baltimore Colts scored a grand total of 97 points. Baltimore lost badly, 70-27. Ouch.
8. In another, more recent match-up, on September 16, 2007, the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Bengals scored 96 total points. This time, the Browns won (shocking, I know), 51-45.
(8*) 9. On September 21, 1986, the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins also scored a total of 96 points. Oddly, the final score was also 51-45, J-E-T-S.
10. The Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins’ September 17, 1983 game resulted in 95 total points. Green Bay won by the skin of their teeth,
Jimmy Choo Perfume Launch, 48-47.
(10*) 11. On December 30, 1995, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Detroit Lions also combined for 95 points. The W went to Philly, 58-37.
