VALLEY MILLS ( August 11, 2014 ) A week after the City of Valley Mills put Municipal Judge Madolyn Johnson and City Secretary Christi Turner on paid administrative leave, the town’s city council is expected to appoint an interim staff at Monday's council meeting.
The council’s agenda says officials will decide on an "Interim Municipal Court Clerk and Interim Municipal Court Judge."
It's unclear if the city means to create a court clerk position while its city secretary and city judge are being investigated or if this is a clerical error on the council agenda.
The mayor did not return our calls immediately.
One council member News 10 contacted had no idea what was going on.
If the city appoints people to these two positions that could mean city hall will reopen its doors after being closed for more than a week.
Meanwhile, the city continues to keep the reason for the investigation of Turner and Johnson confidential.
But there is speculation this could be related to the Texas Ranger investigation into former Valley Mills Volunteer Fire Chief Brady Schuetz who resigned a few months ago because of allegations surrounding missing money from the fire department.
The council meets at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
The water, sewer and police departments were staffed and on the job in the town of about 1,200 north of Waco.
Residents were told they could drop off water payments at the slot provided at city hall.
