OXNARD, Calif. The Dallas Cowboys plan to sign punter Tom Hornsey to fill out their roster after waiving punter Cody Mandell (Alabama) over the weekend.
The addition of Hornsey will give the Cowboys a full 90-player roster. Hornsey was Memphis starting punter the last four years. He was the 2013 Ray Guy Award recipient as college football s top punter. He averaged 43.2 yards per punt throughout his college career.
Hornsey is from Geelong, Victoria, Australia. During his senior season, Hornsey had 13 punts of 60 or more yards, including a career-long 79-yarder.
The Cowboys returning starter at punter is Chris Jones, and he s been solid so far throughout training camp.
