RAVE For the profoundly touching committal service for my father-in-law at Mount Tahoma National Cemetery. Military personnel and volunteers providing the military funeral honors were professional, kind and very dignified. Though none of the participants knew my father-in-law, they represented the very best of the military brotherhood. It meant the world to his widow and family.
RANT To me for talking on my phone while driving and honking at another driver. Totally unacceptable; what was I thinking?
RAVE To the Seattle All City Marching Band, who put on an impromptu and wonderful performance while waiting for their turn to enter the Torchlight Parade, dancing and playing for the sheer joy of it.
RANT To the parent who thought it was cute when her little boy ran through the supermarket vegetable aisle with a plastic veggie bag over his head. Everyone else was shocked. Obviously, some people shouldn’t have children.
RAVE For staff at the Seattle Mariners games, from the bag checkers who search our bags with a smile to the ushers who say “enjoy the game,” to the workers who wish me a “great evening” as I leave the stadium. The staff at Safeco Field are well trained, appear to love their jobs,True Religion Jeans White, and have a great attitude toward the fans, making the games an enjoyable experience whether the Mariners win or lose.
RANT AND RAVE Rant to the woman who set a bad example for her child by coldheartedly ignoring me when I took a hard fall on the sidewalk. Rave to the woman with a child in a stroller who asked me repeatedly if I was OK — her kindness was deeply appreciated. Children learn so much from their parents’ behavior.
RAVE To the wonderful bus drivers of King County Metro! In four years of riding buses, about 12 rides per week, I’ve only experienced three drivers who weren’t courteous, professional and helpful, a great record.
RAVE To the kindhearted man waiting for the traffic light who jumped out of his truck to assist a double-amputee by pushing his wheelchair across the intersection before the traffic signal light changed, while waving to the drivers in the vehicles behind him. Witnessing it made me smile and renewed my belief in kindness.
RANT There is no better place for a child than a library, but a library isn’t a day care. Parents,True Religion Outlet Store Online, please pay attention to your kids and help them learn common courtesy and following the rules; and teens and adults, set an example by being quiet and leaving food and drink outside.
RAVE To the Trader Joe’s employee who ran after me and presented me with a flower bouquet after I shared the news of losing my best buddy,True Religion Overalls, my Labrador retriever.
