Question
I beleive this cup of was silver plated when pewter. Most has rubbed out of now. The only marking a lot less than is an engraved LN. The inscription reads "Talkin Tarn Regatta, Naworth Castle, Grand Challance Cup won by the Tyne Amateur Rowing Standard 1860 -61." My Grandfather brought about it out to Australia as he migrated 1980. Do you think it is pewter per can you give me any knowledge about such a trophy cup utilizing era? Thankyou for your time, Learn to I am not wasting it!!!.

Well done with a good data, good photos, and some effective guesses. It is EPBM - electroplated Britannia metal, BM as a good pewter alloy formulated for creation (pressing, spinning, etc) as opposed to casting, and yes,Oakley 12-935, cheaply magic plated. This type of high Victorian sections with gaudy plating and embossed floral decoration is just about the just about all unpopular type of pewter there is, I'm worried. It was probably made in every Sheffield or Birmingham.
Any price and interest lies in their inscription. Rowing trophies in pewter against this era are very common, however most are associated with well-known public training centers or Oxbridge colleges.
