He was due to be asked the question; could Groening have broken off his service in Auschwitz at any time if he had wanted to.
Bajohr said: 'If he had said he wanted to get out there there would have been nothing to stop him leaving.' But Groening has already told the court that he applied for a transfer on at least two occasions and was turned down by superiors.
