Scott’s mother, Brandi Ellis, got home and brought curling irons and flat irons into the living room. Ellis frantically twirled her daughter’s hair, while they bickered over how Scott’s bangs were being curled. “Don’t snap at me!” Ellis said.
Scott received word that her date, Tavares Tagaleo’o, 17, also a senior, was on his way. She still wasn’t in her dress, and her hair wasn’t finished. Panic set in.
She quickly slipped into her dress, which she bought online at AliExpress. With the clutch and shoes, she spent $185.
At 7:30, Tagaleo’o arrived with Joshua Forrest, 18, and his date, Jamika Pugh, 18. Tagaleo’o looked at Scott with wonder as she walked down the stairs. He’d had a crush on Scott since ninth grade, said Scott’s mother. “He got her a dozen roses for Valentine’s Day one year,” Ellis said.
Indeed, he made a grand gesture when he asked her to the prom. He came into the activities center holding a handmade poster that read: “Every king needs a queen, and would you go to prom with me?”
“I had a crown for a queen, and she said, ‘Yes,’” he said. “I was pretty pumped.”
Boutonnieres were pinned and corsages were slipped on wrists and they filed into the car. Ellis yelled after them: “What’s the only rule tonight? Don’t get into the car if anyone is drinking!”相关的主题文章:
