Police in Washington, D.C., arrested Daron Dylon Wint, the suspect in the killing of a wealthy family and their housekeeper, late Thursday night. The 34-year-old, who was identified after his DNA was purportedly found on a pizza crust at the victims' house, was a former convict.
Wint was arrested in northeast Washington by members of a fugitive task force. He was charged with first-degree murder while armed, but the motive of the killings remains unclear, authorities reportedly said. Savvas Savopoulos, 46; Amy Savopoulos, 47; their 10-year-old son, Philip; and their housekeeper Veralicia Figueroa, 57, were all in the family’s northwest Washington home last week.
Authorities said that Wint worked for Savvas’ company, American Iron Works, in the past, the reported. Savvas was the CEO of the Maryland’s Hyattsville-based company, which supplies metal to building projects across the region.
Firefighters, while responding to the multimillion-dollar home for a fire on May 14, found the four bodies. Authorities reportedly said that the house was intentionally set on fire.
