The investigation began Friday in the 100 block of Chamale Cove.
According to a release from the Slidell Police Department, officers were called to the home when medical personnel were treating a patient and saw prescription drugs for patients at the Heritage Manor Nursing home strewn about the home.
"Police located hundreds of prescription pills, packaged in individual baggies, as if someone was preparing to sell them," police said in the release.
The residents of the home, 36-year-old Patrick Lampard and 46-year-old Bonnie Pritchard, were questioned at the home about the discovery.
Lampard is the now-former director of the Heritage Manor Nursing home and Pritchard is a now-former teacher at Abney Elementary School.
According to police, the two admitted to being part of a scheme to steal prescription medications from the nursing home in order to sell them to a dealer to pay off debt and finance a trip to Las Vegas.
"Officials at both, the Heritage Manor Nursing Home, and the St. Tammany Parish School Board, were made aware of the investigation and fully cooperated with law enforcement officials," police said in the release. "Based off the investigation thus far, at no point in time were the patients at Heritage Manor Nursing Home and the students at Abney Elementary School affected by the actions of Mr. Lampard and Ms. Pritchard."
Both faces multiple charges of possession of a Schedule II narcotic with intent to distribute and possession of a legend drug.
Pritchard also faces a charge of introduction of Schedule II narcotic into a correctional facility. Lampard additionally faces a theft charge.
Both are being held at the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
Police said the investigation is on-going and more charges may be filed.
