Crumit was caught up in board dispute that led to the resignations of members Marco Pena and Scott Batterson, who eventually was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for his conviction on bribery related charges. Batterson is free on appeal.

Kelley oversee the authority's financial and administrative side, while Berenis supervises construction and maintenance of the agency's 109 miles of toll roads. Berenis did not apply for the top job.
Kelley came to the authority in 2006 after a three-year stint as the executive director of the Florida Transportation Commission.
