The authority's nine board members are meeting individually with Laura Kelley,

The board is expected to meet May 14th to hire a replacement for Max Crumit, who resigned under pressure in October 2013.
Board member Michael Scheeringa, who led the executive search, declined comment. A total of 11 people submitted resumes to Scheeringa's committee.
Welton Cadwell,

Both of these folks are more than qualified,

http://vaninyhandbag.com/wp-content.php?Barcelona-2014-15MESSI-Pelipaita-Koti, who joined the board when the authority was created last summer by the state Legislature.
He said he did not know a woman had never run the agency, which replaced the Orlando Orange County Expressway. But he added the time may be right to make a bit of history.
We wanted a new day. That would be a new day,

Going back to the previous authority, the agency has had eight executive directors,

The job, which can pay up to $250,000 annually, has not been especially stable. Starting in 1991, the last four full-time directors were forced to resign.
Crumit was caught up in board dispute that led to the resignations of members Marco Pena and Scott Batterson, who eventually was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for his conviction on bribery related charges. Batterson is free on appeal.
Since Crumit left,

Kelley oversee the authority's financial and administrative side, while Berenis supervises construction and maintenance of the agency's 109 miles of toll roads. Berenis did not apply for the top job.
Kelley came to the authority in 2006 after a three-year stint as the executive director of the Florida Transportation Commission. She has spent the past 30 years in management in the transportation industry,

Lafleur was named executive director of the Illinois Tollway Board in 2010, becoming the first woman to hold that position. Previously, she was the deputy chief of staff for economic development and recovery for then Gov. Pat Quinn.
