Nowadays,

Double Fine raised millions of dollars for "Broken Age." The website helped smaller efforts such as "Shovel Knight" get off the ground. But before crowdfunding became popular, Slightly Mad Studios experimented with the idea, creating a platform called World of Mass Development and invited the public to invest in and help craft the developer's next release, "Project CARS."
That was back in 2011, and after a few delays and a run-in with the British government, the racing sim finally has the green light to hit store shelves. It's a gorgeous-looking project that's easily one of the best pieces of eye candy in the genre. It holds up when juxtaposed to "Gran Turismo" and "Forza Motorsport." There are times when players won't be able to tell if a screenshot is from the game or real life.

"Project CARS" is a racing sim along the lines of "Gran Turismo" and the
"Forza Motorsports" series. The community based approach makes it different
from other racers.

)Part of what makes the experience so impressive is that the team uses weather and atmosphere so well. Each race randomly formulates its own conditions and start times. Players can fire up their engines in the morning fog at Sonoma Raceway. The view of the track and other racers will be obscured, but after a few laps, the afternoon sun will burn off the haze and players will get a clearer picture of the road.
It's a subtle feature, but in racing sims it deepens the immersion. Tiny details such as the brake lights illuminating in the distance let players feel as if they're competing at 100 mph, while offering a hint when to slow down on that curve.
AdvertisementWith a solid racing background (Slightly Mad Studios made "Need for Speed: Shift"), "Project CARS" has the gameplay nailed. The virtual cars move like their real-life counterparts, and the racing can be punishing at times. Unlike "Forza,
http://ludandesign.com/sidebar.php?capital-one-cup/liput/," there's no rewind button if you spin out. The faster vehicles feel especially squirrely and they require more finesse. Just braking early or hitting a curve at the wrong speed will send you mowing the lawns on the track.
The one thing peculiar about "Project CARS" is that it isn't structured like "Gran Turismo." The single-player campaign lets players start at any division (you can even race go-karts) and players work their way up by performing well during each racing season. There isn't a way to buy new cars and keep them in your garage,
http://www.kombatkungfu.it/loader.asp?7895_Maglia_Pantaloncini_Kit_Home_Divisa_Arsenal_Bambino_2014_15, but that isn't too big a deal because players can access them all in quick play modes where they can set up any track, conditions and rules they want. They can even have longer races where pit stops are a must and players must create a strategy.
Despite that, I do miss the idea of building up a vehicle and improving it by buying parts. But "Project CARS" more than makes up for it with the huge selection of courses available. The game features more than 30 venues,

http://cspain.dk/wp-searches.php?liverpool, Willow Springs and Laguna Seca. And each of those courses has several variations, so there are plenty of roads to explore.
The only issue is that "Project CARS" is still a work in progress. That's a double-edged sword. Although it feels incomplete in places, there will be,
