CONCORD -- The Mt. Diablo school district will offer a free after-school sports program at all middle schools starting next fall.The school board has agreed to allocate $100,000 for the program, which is expected to include soccer, flag football, basketball and one other sport to be determined. The goal is to engage students, parents and community members in a fun and safe program that emphasizes healthy living and core values including leadership, sportsmanship and teamwork. The board also agreed to create middle school sports site coordinators and coach positions to help run the program.Details are at . Click on May 18, then items 18.12 and 18.13.
