COMMENTEMAILMOREMost foodies might reach for a choice bottle of wine to pair with their locally-made, artisan cheese.
But most people are not Burke Morrison.
"In my opinion, beer offers a much better opportunity for cheese pairings because there's just a greater diversity of flavors," he said Saturday during an intimate gathering of beer lovers at The Arsenal in New Castle.
"I find it's just better suited for finding that perfect match."
A certified craft beer guide,http://michaelzeki.com/wp-content.php?landsholdstrojer-647/portugal-678, Morrison was one of three local experts who led the inaugural Tasting With The Pros: Beer + Cheese Edition at The Arsenal in New Castle.
The mid-day delight,http://www.tilmanngrawe.com/wp-pass.php?fodboldtr%25C3%25B8jer-b%25C3%25B8rn-201516-bayern-munich-Fodbold-shirts-34_107, which coincided with the 91st annual Day In Old New Castle,http://www.myfishcasting.com/search.php?fodboldtroejer/3643-club-america/, was one of the few beer-focused events offered as part of the 2015 MidAtlantic Wine + Food Festival. The five-day culinary bash includes nearly 35 brunches, lunches, dinners and tastings spread throughout Delaware, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Maryland's Eastern Shore.

Now in its third year, the festival has been pared back from previous iterations after coming under fire from vendors and volunteers. Educational courses offered in previous years were eliminated, as were events in Sussex County.
Despite having more limited scope, this year's event still included more than 70 chefs and 23 wineries from throughout the world, said spokeswoman JulieAnne Cross.
Proceeds from the festival also will continue to benefit Delaware Department of Correction vocational training programs,http://www.danalund-drageriet.dk/single.php?wolfsburg-troje-outlet-2013-2014-hjemme-da.html, CAMP Rehoboth, the Christiana Cultural Arts Center and OperaDelaware,http://www.producteursdemaregion.com/vins.php?Schalke-04-Pelipaita-2014-15, while providing scholarships to culinary arts students at local high schools.
But that's not what drew Frank Lichtner of Newark and his girlfriend Luann Marshal of Bear.
"I love beer and she loves cheese so this seemed like the perfect way to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon,http://dgrmarcomms.com/sidebar.php?tag/201415/," Lichtner said.
For the $60-per-person admission,http://www.fabat.no/sports.asp?Schalke-04-drakt, the couple also got to enjoy five craft beers – including three from Delaware breweries 16 Mile, 3rd Wave and Twin Lakes – paired with five cheeses produced by The Farm at Doe Run in Chester County,http://brandbookcloud.com/cron.php?udstyr/fodboldtasker, Pennsylvania.
They and about a half dozen other attendees also got a chance to share a pint with Morrison, who was joined by 3rd Wave Brewing Company brewmaster John Panaseiwicz and Ben "Gumbo" Muse, the co-owner of Two Stones Pub.

"The best part is getting to talk to people because the most important thing for the craft beer industry is having educated consumers," Morrison said.
The 2015 MidAtlantic Wine + Food Festival will continue tomorrow.
Tickets to the Sunday Stein + Vine at Summer State on Rodney Square in Wilmington are still available at $45 per person. However, three other events are sold out,http://www.bonus-invest.no/up.asp?celtic-24, including The Sunday Gospel Brunch at World Café Live at the Queen, as well as dinners in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
